Sacrifice

Laurel is such a pick me girl. There are no emotional subjects or growing disquiet. Laurel acts as though she never met, remarked on or knew Tommy. There is no shock or distress. Why didn't Malcolm just shoot Oliver? Oliver lies. Tommy has yearning and anger. Malcolm sees the undertaking as a moral necessity. Oliver is a clench jawed jerk.

This is a bizarre documentary about a bizarre cult which had raised suspicion in Australia for years before finally resulting in a police raid in 1987. A compound near Melbourne was raided resulted in the rescue of a number of abused stolen children. But the path to justice for them was long and twisted.

The crew engage in senselessly stupid behaviour. Why do Troi and Crusher have such obvious hair extensions? There are style misses, poor fabrics and weak seams. There is also wilful deatchment in this tale of techno-optimism.

This documentary series about the 40 year old case has bad opening credits but it is good if bleak and depressing. There were 30 murders leading to conspiracy theories. This is a tale of risible ineptitude and frightening amorality.
